The Starlight Autism team considers your child’s strengths, challenges, opportunities for growth, and personal goals to develop a roadmap to their version of success. We use proven teaching methodologies with you and your child. Some of the tools we integrate into our ABA practice are sign language, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), Discrete Trial Training (DTT), Pivotal Response Training (PRT), Natural Environment Teaching (NET), TEACCH, augmentative communication devices, and the use of visual structure. Social skills training (SST) for autism is crucial due to the social challenges faced by individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Autism involves difficulties in social communication, restricted interests, and repetitive behaviors. Those with autism often struggle with social cues, body language, eye contact, and relationships.
SST is a structured program that teaches essential social skills, helping individuals improve communication, interpret social cues, start and maintain conversations, and form relationships. The main goals include enhancing communication, social interactions, and empathy. Benefits of SST include increased social confidence, better relationships, reduced anxiety, improved academic performance, and greater independence. SST equips individuals with autism to better navigate social settings and build meaningful connections.
